Christian Dior - New York Spring/Summer 1966
This dress is absolutely spectacular. Designed for the Spring 1966 collection for Christian Dior - New York, this dress has incredible documentation, having been photographed by Bert Stern for Vogue in 1966.
Made from frothy black lace, the dress features a strapless boned bodice made from Dior's signature bobinnette fabric, and a stunning waterfall backline accented with a black silk bow. Paralelling the popular sheath silhouette of the mid-60s, the dress gently accents the waist with a simple and straight silhouette, which only emphasises the drama of the back. It still retains both a Christian Dior - New York label, as well as a Neiman Marcus label from where the original client purchased it. A truly remarkable and important piece from the golden age of couture!

Condition
Very Good.
This dress is in almost perfect condition, with just a few minor flaws. The zipper is original and slightly stiff, however it remains fully functional and still feels sturdy. The light layer of organza that flatlines the inner slip has torn in a couple of places, including along the zip (see photos) due to wear. However, this isn't unusual with a fabric as delicate as organza, and one of these tears appears to have been repaired at some point. As this organza fabric is not seen from the outside, nor from the inside, it isn't too problematic. One of the hanging loops has come off at some point. All other seams are intact and the lace is still soft and strong!
