Givenchy Nouvelle Boutique Autumn/Winter 1971
This coat is, quite simply, stunning! Created by Givenchy for his new boutique line in 1971, this coat took inspiration from some of the most successful pieces from his haute couture collection that same season. In particular, it draws many elements from a coat worn by his greatest client and friend, Audrey Hepburn. Whilst her couture version was made from brown wool, this boutique version features the same double-breasted cut, simple lines and is flatlined in the same cream wool.
Photographed by Jacques Bourboulon in July 1971, this coat was described in an original press release as "a reversible coat in anthracite grey and white wool". Also found on the piece is a handwritten tape with a series of numbers - which could very well indicate that this very coat was the original sample seen in the photograph.
As a beautiful design with incredible provenance, this is a very special piece!

Condition:
Very Good.
This coat has hardly any noticeable flaws, with very small areas of wear on the cream wool interior, including a minor 0.5cm hole (see photos). The fabric itself is still incredbily soft and luscious, and looks hardly worn.
