Jacques Heim Autumn/Winter 1962 'Alibi' Dress
This gorgeous dress was created by the often underated Jacques Heim. Establishing his own couture house in 1930, Heim was the president of the governing body of French haute couture, and is said to have created the first two-piece bathing suit in 1932 - a style that few would dare to wear for another decade when Louis Réard re-interpreted the style into what became known as the bikini.
This gorgeous dress by Heim was namd 'Alibi' and is from his Autumn/Winter 1962 collection, documented in the original sketch of the dress held in the Palais Galliera archive. Although it is a dress, it has the illusion of being a two piece with a looser fitting bodice. Made from taupe silk, it has the most beautiful cut - with a wide band at the waist that gently scoops downwards as it goes into a perfect bow at the centre back, and even two pockets in the skirt!
A really beautiful example of Heim's synonymous Parisian style.

Condition
Good.
This taupe silk of this dress is still in fantastic condition, with only one small hole on the sleeve (see photo). All seams are still completelty intact and it still feels wearable. The metal zipper is original and works very smoothly, with no stiffness. The lining of the dress has some yellowing present, due to wear.
