Lanvin Haute Couture Wedding Gown With White Fur Hood, 1964.

£3,000.00Price

This extraordinary Lanvin haute couture wedding gown, circa 1964, was designed by the Creative director Jules-François Crahay. Steering away from the traditional bridal look, this dress completely encapsulates the mod-1960s style.

Made from beautiful slubbed ivory silk, the dress features a detachable avant-garde hood and is trimmed with white fur around the hood and cuffs. The dress is simple, with a watteau-esque back, but would have made quite the statement back in 1964!

In the original black and white photograph is Maryll Orsini, a former Glamour magazine employee, wearing a very similar wedding dress that was also designed by Lanvin, in April 1964. She was marrying Bernard Lanvin, hence the connection to the fashion house.

The dress is labeled and numbered 74788.

Condition:

Very Good. The dress is in great condition, with only a few yellow marks around the hem (photographed), where it has been worn and the train has trailed on the floor. The silk and fur are still like new.
