Mr. John 1961 Red Paisley Bucket Hat Unworn With Tags
This red paisley hat by Mr. John is so incredibly chic!
As one of the most famous hat designers of the 20th Century, Mr. John's hats remain incredibly collectable today. According to the New York Times, "in the 1940s and 1950s, the name Mr. John was as famous in the world of hats as Christian Dior was in the realm of haute couture". As well as creating designs worn by the likes of Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo and Gloria Swanson, he also famously designed the hats worn by Vivien Leigh in Gone With The Wind.
In 1961 Audrey Hepburn was photographed in Rome by Pierluigi Praturlon, wearing another stunning red hat by Mr. John which is very similar to this hat we have in the shop. In one of the photos of Audrey, you can even see the signature Mr. John label on the matching scarf she wears on top. The perfect accessory to achieve that 'Audrey look'!

Very Good.
This hat has never been worn, and still retains its original tag and even its complimetary hat pin! It is in fantastic condition, with the only flaw being that the lace trim on the interior has come away slightly in places (see photos).
